IMS Arizona Marathon (26.2 mi) March 17, 2013

Highlights

·        Point to Point, from Verrado in Buckeye and continued through Goodyear, Avondale, Litchfield Park, Phoenix, and Glendale.

·        So much fun to run from community to community.  I got a burst of energy knowing I had five miles until the finish and I could see Westgate and The Arizona Cardinals stadium, where the finish line was waiting for us in the distance.

·        Lots of great support from people along the course even some who were sitting on their porches or standing at the end of their blocksto cheer us on.  One lady had a boom box and some pom poms.

·        The course ran by my friend Tim’s house, at about mile 11, and our families were there to support and cheer us on. 

·        The finish line was Amazing.

·        The Double sided medal, which is now one of my favorites.

This was my second road marathon.  I wanted to finish in less than four hours, but it was just not in the cards that day.  Regardless,I had a blast and did PR by 2 minutes from my previous marathon time.  Although I do prefer running in the mountains on a single track trail, I would run this marathon again.

The Cedro Peak Ultra Marathon 45 · Saturday April 7, 2012 in Tijeras, New Mexico. The car’s temperature gauge read 37 degrees and it felt like it. I turned in my drop bag, checked into the race, and retreated back to the car with my buddies. We decided to wait until five minutes to the start of the race to head to the starting line. The race was set to start to at 6 a.m. There was an EZ UP with Christmas lights directly behind the starting line. The majority of the runners huddled together under it making last minute adjustments to their watches, headlamps, and gear. A Humbling Experience... Flagstaff 50 Mile Endurance Run

Course Info! Elevation  of race was between 7,000 and 9,000 feet. The course featured five significant climbs on Upper Oldham (1850+ ft), Lower Weatherford (1750+ ft), Friedlein Prairie Road (1100+ ft), Little Gnarly/Brookbank (1400+ ft), and Heart Trail (1900+ ft). To celebrate my year anniversary of ultra running I decidedto give the Flagstaff 50 Mile Endurance Run a shot.   I knew this would not be an easy run, but felt like I needed to challenge myself with a run that scared the hell out of me.   A few days removed from the event, I have mixed emotions, but know I have gained a ton of knowledge from this experience. This morning I got a text from my buddy that said, “Lots of fun W/good people over shadowed a sucky run….”   That text really hit the nail on what this weekend was about.   Yes we went up to Flagstaff for a race, but we also went to enjoy the fellowship we share as runners out on the trail. 5 minutes until the start of the race I walked to the startline.   Buf

April Fool’s Backyard Ultra 2019 * April 26, 2019

The run/race took place, literally, in the Race directors backyard on a 238 meter hand made course. Trail work at its finest. The event was labeled as an 8 Hour Ultra Marathon where you could go as you please. It was also a bring your aid event. Besides your own aid we were all encouraged, of course if its your thing, to bring beer and or any other adult beverages of your choice. I knew this was going to be fun. The moment I saw this run advertised I had to sign up. I had missed out on the Black Friday Backyard Ultra in November 2018. Which was in the same backyard but a shorter loop. As that run progressed, so did the length of the course, which gave birth to the April Fools Backyard Ultra . Big Shout out to JAM JAM AKA Jamil Coury for hosting such a great event.
